The photograph is of a seriously-wounded Marine Sgt. who refused to be airlifted out until all his Marines had been treated and the fighting had ceased. As is the case with all our Military, he would say "I'm only doing my job".
The quote was discovered on the site of OPFOR and was attributed to "Anonymous", but the general feeling is that it's from one of our Troops over there in the "sand box".
My feelings, Kris, are that this image and accompanying quote need to be seen and reflected upon every day; especially by the young.
It's a pleasure to finally get over here to see your beautiful site. After hearing you on BTR at Snooper's -- you sounded so committed and intelligent -- I thought I should definitely check out your home base. And it's quite impressive.
What a terrific picture and what a fine reminder. We owe them so much. Thank you for thinking to post it.
Merry Christmas to you Roger, and welcome to the Lake. It's always a pleasure to meet a fellow supporter of our Troops.
All of our sites and BTR is helping to make a real difference, albeit slowly, in how the MSM and the liberal left views the progress our Troops are making in Iraq and Afghanistan. That you consider this site to be helping to get that message out there is good to know. Thank you.
Hello again Loon. I've taken the liberty of adding your site to my list of notable women warriors on my sidebar -- something I should have done earlier. If for any reason you object, please let me know and I'll remove it immediately. Best wishes, Roger from Political Vindication Radio http://radarsite.blogspot.com/
But I don't want to fly false colors. My time in the military was long ago, during the Cold War(but I did spend eighteen long months on that mountaintop in Newfoundland).
However, my son's tour of duty was a lot more recent. He was an Army Ranger and served in Desert Storm.
As you can tell by my site, you and I share something in common, Loon -- we are both very pro-miltary.
An honor to have you on my sidebar. Talk to you again soon on PV Radio.
Princess: The best thing about this photograph is that the Troop pictured survived and that it's helping to encourage so many at home to keep all our Troops in their hearts and prayers. Welcome.
Auntybrat: Glad to welcome you to the Lake fellow Canuck. A privilege to visit your site, but the words you posted from Chuck Z. leave me deeply saddened at the thought at what's happening in Berkeley, Ca. The one and only good from this debacle is that it's helping to change the minds of some, but, more importantly, helping to encourage the young to see who are the true heroes among us.
Hi Loon, great post, thanks for it and thanks for the visit to my place, If I knew you were coming I would have had some wine and cheese ready....(next time)
Hello. This post is likeable, and your blog is very interesting, congratulations :-). I will add in my blogroll =). If possible gives a last there on my blog, it is about the Webcam, I hope you enjoy. The address is http://webcam-brasil.blogspot.com. A hug.
I notice the general comments are bascially the same as over 40 years ago when I was with 1st Inf. in Phu loi,Vietnam{1966-67}!I guess the only advise I can give you is to keep your head down until we reach our senses here in US and get you all out of there!
We are destorying our economy and our working classes here as we go into massive trade, consumer debt and massive federal debt along with the present adminitration destorying our dollars and send natural resources prices into hyperinflation modes never see by human mankind!
In Nov. we will start the process of getting our forces out of the World hair and start becoming a republic democracy again!
Perhaps, Connemara, you were too busy composing your comment to take notice that the comments related to this post are so similar because this site is pro-Troop, pro-Military, and pro-American.
Your "name" does not lead to a blog page; which is odd. However, odder still is your mispelling of the word "advice" yet using the correct spelling of "hyperinflation".
All comments here are welcome, except those which are spam, denigrate our Troops and Military, or use incorrect facts to advance their agenda. Case in point: no Troops are "pulling out" this November, except for any Units who are already scheduled for a return to home.
Thank You for your service, if, indeed, you did serve during the Vietnam War, but please don't leave such a comment under this post in the future.

It is an honour and a privilege, Life Trekking Coach, to be able to educate folks on just how amazing our Troops and Veterans are. It's the least we can do for those who sacrifice so much for us at home.
Today (December 7th) I went to the rememberance service at the Veterans Memorial Center in San Diego of the 67th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. And the survivors are now stressing 9-11 as well. So now it is, don't ever forget Pearl Harbor and 9-11. Great advice for the nation as well as all the free Western nations.
From the perspective of a fly-on-the-right-wing Loon who is patriotic, loves and supports fellow Loons in America, and won't hesitate to call in the Eagles if you ruffle my feathers!

This post will stay on top for all time, Gunz.
We civilians need to remember more than once a year.
That's cool, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Laterz and *out*
WOW!
When first seeing this image...I knew it would be my permanent reminder of what our Troops willingly sacrifice for all.
Welcome to the Lake, Joshua.
Hey Loon - I may not say this often enough, in public enough places, but I really appreciate the love and support you have for the troops.
Semper Fi!
It's an eternal debt, Cary, owed by all civilians to all our Troops.
I love the quote and the photograph- because it's the truth.

As an old AF vet, I just had to steal that great AF insignia for my site. Hope you don't mind.

Loon,
You have such a beautiful site. My first time here, and I love it!!!

How anyone could be disrespectful to or cause dishonour to our Military is not to be understood, DD2.
Thank You for visiting this little patch in blog-land. Hope your summer is going well. :)
